Description: Highly-selective universities are powerhouses in their own right. Frequently engines of economic growth within major metropolitan areas, these universities often also contain highly-regarded medical schools, law schools, and business schools. These universities are frequently difficult to get into, but a clear cut below the elite universities. While you may meed brilliant individuals at highly selective universities, they will not be as prevalent as at elite universities. These highly regarded institutions often come with large and dedicated alumnii networks. While a number of large univerisities dominant this list, there are a subset of smaller but also well-regarded institutions, with as low as 80 students. Economic outcomes at this tier are usually good to excellent depending on the university. Many opportunities like working at top-tier startups, management consulting or finance are still available to universities at this tier.
