Cindy Jensen, branch manager of the Founders Community Bank in Morro Bay, wins the award for worst customer service provider! On Friday afternoon (2/23/2018) I used the ATM machine at Founders Community Bank, having discovered the Bank of America branch had closed. I didn't mind paying the $4 service fee for the convenience. In the course of the transaction, I neglected to retrieve my card from the machine and exited. Two hours later, when I realized my card was missing, I returned to the bank to see if I had done as I suspected.
I spoke with a teller who referred me to the branch manager, Cindy Jensen. I explained the sequence of events, showed Ms. Jensen my withdrawal slip, and offered to present two forms of picture ID if she return my card. She refused to return the card, citing "bank policy" to destroy all captured cards since she had no way of knowing why the card was captured. Assuming she was smart enough to know it is standard practice for ATM machines to capture any cards left in the machine after a reasonable time, I told her why the machine captured the card and when. Still she refused to return the card. She didn't even offer to check to be sure the card was in her possession until I called her 15 minutes later and asked her to check before I called Bank of America to either cancel the card or order a replacement. She confirmed she had it but still refused to return it to me. Unwilling to trust someone of such poor judgment, I chose to cancel the card and asked my bank to issue a replacement card with a new number. In any event, it is a five day delay before I will receive my replacement card. Thank you Founders Community Bank for letting me see how unfriendly a bank can be. I will be sure to pass the word along. I would rate this bank with only one star, but only because your form does not provide an option to give a "zero" star rating.
