ABOUT US:
In 1949, Father Hugh Deeney saw a need within St. John's Parish for people to help each other out financially by pooling their resources and St. John's CU, (later to be renamed Central Catholic Credit Union then Central City Credit Union) was born. Thirteen applications for membership were accepted at the first meeting, bringing the total assets to $320. At the end of the new credit union's first year there were 61 members and assets of $4,356.
In 1951, membership eligibility was expanded to include parish members of nine area catholic churches. In 1976 the newly named Central City Credit Union expanded its membership eligibility. For the current geographical area we serve, check our service area map.
On December 31, 2008 Central City Credit Union and Point Plus Credit Union in Stevens Point/Plover combined to form one stronger, better Central City Credit Union. We are now almost 23,000 members strong with total assets at almost $150 million. We have five offices to better serve our members. And in 2010 we will be adding a sixth office at Marshfield High School
Past presidents at Central City have included Reinhold Weber, Edward Pfahning, Joe Dorf, Jesse Sandoval, Heidi Fahey and Robert Kublank. Currently, Pat Wesenberg serves as CEO/President.
Over the years, Central City has benefited from the volunteer leadership of many.
